Our First Impressions
We love all the Disney villains, Disney's latest movie, Cruella follows a similar theme to Maleficent as they tell the tale of Cruella and how she came to be the wicked villain we all know her to be in 101 Dalmatians.
The Story
She’s outrageous, loud and madly creative. Disney’s Cruella, played by Emma Stone, is quite the live-action feature film. The storyline follows young Estella (played by Tipper Seifert-Cleveland) as she grows up in 1970s London, with a dream of becoming a fashion designer. Ignited with a fiery passion for clothing and a keen eye for couture Estella, lives out her dream and makes her way into the fashion scene, albeit, in a slightly unconventional way.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmRKv7n2If8
Disney has unsurprisingly, found a way to tell the story in such a way that we feel sympathy and maybe a little bit of fascination for Cruella De Vil. The iconic Disney villain is portrayed with a rebellious nature that allows her to fight for what she believes in. As we watch Estella spend long days and nights slaving away at the sewing machine, followed by a series of outlandish costume balls, the plot thickens and her inner de-vil starts to show. The fashion fans among us might have seen the subtle nods to famous London-based fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, with all the leather, lace and how can we forget that moth dress?!As the punk scene begins to emerge in London, The Baroness’ (played by Emma Thompson) soon-to-be arch rival, Cruella starts to steal the show until all eyes are on her. Sit back and watch the drama unfold as these two leading ladies battle it out in the fashion world, one signature dress at a time. We won’t spoil any more of the plot, just in case you haven’t seen it yet, However we will be rocking the red lipstick and our Cruella collection for the foreseeable. It’s time to channel the Queen of Mean.
